These examples show why the label “battery pressure washer” covers different tools. Kärcher's KHB 6 is a handheld cleaner that uses an external water source; Bosch Fontus 18V carries a 15 L tank; the GARDENA AquaClean 24/18V Ready-To-Use Set includes a battery, charger, hose filter, two lances and three nozzles. Gardena labels its unit a medium-pressure cleaner, while Bosch calls Fontus a cordless outdoor cleaner. Do not assume these are identical pump designs or that their makers measured pressure and flow the same way.

Compare pressure, flow, tank and battery
These models use different pressure classes, battery platforms and water systems. The handheld KHB 6 draws from a hose, bucket or other permitted source through the supplied suction system; Fontus and AquaClean have tanks. Compare pressure and flow, source of water, tank volume, hose length, battery capacity and accessory kit. Do not compare a medium-pressure cleaner to a mains-fed high-pressure washer by PSI alone. Verify voltage, charging region and warranty before purchasing.
Match the cleaner to the water source
- Compare the maker’s pressure and water flow figures, source of water and whether the unit draws from a tank or hose.
- Check included battery, charger, lance, nozzle, hose and any water reservoir against the exact kit code.
- Match the output to the surface; use the least aggressive compatible nozzle and test in an inconspicuous area.
- Verify regional voltage, parts, warranty and water-supply compatibility before purchase.
Choose the water source and refill plan
Onboard tanks improve portability but set a hard limit on uninterrupted cleaning. A 15 L Fontus reservoir cannot provide the same session as a continuous tap connection without refills. A suction hose can draw from a container only if the exact model supports that mode and the filter remains submerged. Prime the system as instructed and do not let a pump run dry.
Check the hose connector, filter, included lance and whether a garden-hose adapter is part of the package. A “ready-to-use” kit may still be region-specific. On Gardena's set, the manufacturer lists a 5 m suction hose with OGS connectors and filter; Bosch lists a 4 m hose on its Spanish configuration. Keep the hose away from wheels and foot traffic so it does not pull the tool over or kink.
Battery capacity also changes the real setup. A pack is not always included, and kit suffixes can represent different batteries or chargers. Compare the price of the complete usable kit, the charge time, replacement-pack availability and whether the battery belongs to a platform you already own. Manufacturer runtime claims need the battery size and cleaning mode stated alongside them.
Use the right pressure for each surface
Portable medium-pressure devices are useful for rinsing mud from bikes, tools, garden furniture and other small outdoor items. They are not a shortcut for stripping coating or blasting broad areas of concrete. A tight jet can damage seals, soft wood, paint, plant tissue or skin. Start with the broadest suitable spray and the lowest pressure setting, stand farther away and test a hidden patch.
Gardena documents three pressure modes—9, 14 and 24 bar—and describes 9 bar as its Soft-Clean setting. The availability of a low setting helps with delicate surfaces, but it does not remove the need to follow the surface maker's advice. Keep the nozzle moving, rinse detergent as directed and avoid directing water into bearings, electrical connectors or gaps where it can be trapped.
Regional sources do not prove US offers
The earlier page described these as “best” products without exact Amazon.com listings. Their European manufacturer specifications remain useful for explaining the category, but they do not prove a US offer or package.
High-pressure spray and electrical safety
CDC says follow the owner's manual, test the GFCI before use, keep electrical connections out of water and never point the jet at people. High-pressure spray can cause serious wounds that appear minor; seek medical care promptly for an injection-type injury.
These products are portable cleaners, but they solve different problems. Bosch Fontus 18V uses a 15-litre tank and can also connect to a water supply; it is a low-pressure outdoor cleaner, not a conventional high-pressure washer. GARDENA AquaClean 24/18V offers 9, 14 and 24 bar modes with an approved suction hose. Kärcher KHB 6 lists up to 24 bar and 200 l/h. Their maximum values cannot be ranked as if they came from a common test.
Check the exact kit before pricing the system. Bosch article 06008B6101 includes a 2.5 Ah battery and charger in the cited Spanish listing, while 06008B6102 is bare tool. GARDENA 14800-20 is a ready-to-use set with battery and charger; other suffixes may omit them. A Kärcher tool-only package may require a Battery Power pack and compatible charger. The battery ecosystem, not just voltage, determines fit.
For water planning, compare an integrated tank with a suction hose or a tap connection. A 15-litre reservoir requires refilling for a larger task; a suction hose needs a clean compatible water source and a priming procedure. Do not draw water from a pond, container or tank unless the manual permits it and the inlet filter is installed. Air in the feed can interrupt flow or damage a pump.
Use the lowest suitable pressure on paint, plastic, wood and seals, and test a small area first. These tools are suited to mobile rinsing and light cleaning within maker instructions; they are not documented here as replacements for high-pressure equipment on large or deeply soiled surfaces. For each task, separate pressure from water volume and battery time. A cleaner with a 15-litre tank can be useful where a tap is unavailable, but the tank limits how long the operator can rinse. Battery runtime is conditional. GARDENA’s set uses a 2.5 Ah battery; Bosch’s manufacturer page reports up to 60 minutes for Fontus, but this does not mean continuous maximum pressure on every surface. The KHB 6 is rated for up to 12 minutes with a 2.5 Ah pack or 24 minutes with a 5 Ah pack in Kärcher’s source. Do not compare these numbers without their conditions, and account for battery age and temperature.
In the US market, check voltage and pack family as well as brand.
